CHATTING WITH DR. K FROM GULF COAST IN LAND O’ LAKES
Navigating the world of rehabilitation after an injury can be a lot to take on. But don’t stress – our very own Dr. K is here to break it all down for you!
ANYTHING A FIRST-TIME PATIENT SHOULD KNOW?
First impressions matter, and we want to make sure yours is a good one. So, Dr. K, can you let our first-timers in on what they should know before they come in?
Dr. K: First time patients will be greeted with a smile and compassion from our office staff and doctors and they can expect to be treated that way with each visit following!
HOW LONG DOES THE FEDERAL CLAIMS PROCESS TAKE?
The federal claims process can be a real headache. Could you give us the lowdown on what to expect in terms of timing?
Dr. K: Federal claims can be a headache if you try to go at them on your own. Our office is trained to help you navigate the process as well as provide treatment to return you to work swiftly and safely. There is no legal timeline that the federal government must follow for a claim, so I advise to file right way. Do not wait to file and do not wait to come see us for an evaluation and treatment. The sooner you do this the quicker the process is.
WHAT OTHER TREATMENT HELPS IN CONJUNCTION WITH ADJUSTMENTS?
We know chiropractic adjustments are amazing, but they’re not always the whole picture. What else should patients consider to complement their adjustments and enhance their recovery?
Dr. K: Patient’s should consider many things to complement an adjustment such as proper hydration and nutrition, but a few that are available to them at our offices are manual therapy and physical therapy with a doctor or therapist.
Manual therapy is targeted to relax the surrounding muscles that are tight or tense. Physical therapy is targeted to properly strengthen weak muscles. Our bones and muscles attach so we should focus on both aspects not just one. Everything in the body is connected!
DR. K SHARES AN INSPIRING RECOVERY STORY
Everyone loves a good comeback story. Dr. K, can you share one of your favorite recovery stories that might give our readers a boost of inspiration?
Dr. K: There are many recovery stories that come to the top of my head. Helping professional athletes return to sport, helping reduce lower back pain of many women throughout their pregnancies, and helping patients return to normal lives following a motor vehicle accident.
If I had to pick one, my favorite recovery story is about a patient that treated with us for almost two years. This patient came to our office after suffering a stroke from a work injury years ago. The patient’s claim had not been accepted and the injury occurred over 6 years ago by the time they saw us. This patient never gave up and always brought light into every room they entered no matter how many times they were told no. Because the patient did not give up, we got the patient’s claim accepted!! This was life-changing for the patient. The patient and their family members have become a huge part of the Gulf Coast Rehab Family!
